President’s SpotlightIs Your Voice Being HeardAs a 501c(6) not-for-profit corporation, the Oswego Chamber is prohibited from participating in the endorsement of candidates for public office. That doesn’t mean, however, that we shouldn’t interface with government at all levels and adopt policy positions on issues affecting the business community. In fact, the vehicle for our involvement is already in place in the form of the Chamber’s Legislative Committee. Authorized and organized by the Chamber Board of Directors in 2009, the committee meets regularly on the first Monday of each month at 3:00 pm in the Oswego Economic Development Corporation conference room, 26 W. Van Buren Street. Meetings are regularly attended by members of the Illinois General Assembly, area Mayors and other elected officials. Our Chairman is Sandy Benson, Director of Community and Government Relations at Edward. Steve Hatcher |

COULD A NEW TEACHER BE YOUR NEXT NEW CUSTOMER?Chamber members again have the opportunity to introduce their products and services at the Oswego School District New Teacher Orientation breakfast scheduled for Monday. August 16th at 8:00 a.m. at Traughber Jr. High School, 570 Colchester, Oswego. We are anticipating at least 30 new teachers, most of which are new to the Oswego marketplace, and another 70 Principals, Assistant Principals and district staff to attend as part of their orientation. For only $25.00, each participating member may include their single best marketing piece to be included in a welcome packet assembled by the Chamber office. Additionally, your contact information will be listed in the program brochure. Also, members may attend the breakfast for an additional $10.00. All proceeds from this effort will be used to fund scholarships for a deserving graduating senior at both Oswego High School and Oswego East High School next spring. Please respond ASAP and deliver your marketing item to the Chamber office by Monday, August 9th. You may even want to create a marketing piece specifically designed to appeal to new resident teachers such as a discount coupon that will bring them and their family members to your business. To reserve your spot or for questions, call 630-554-3505. Yes, I want to participate: |
