Scholarships Presented

For many years, the Chamber has provided scholarships to graduating seniors in school district 308. $500.00 scholarships were awarded at Honor night programs this year to Raechel Gullledge of Oswego High School and Michelle Weber of Oswego East High School. Our congratulations go out to both of these fine students.

You might ask, how does the Chamber’s already tight budget allow for gifts totaling $1000.00? Fortunately, it’s possible because of another successful Chamber program, the New Teacher Breakfast.

The breakfast is normally held in mid-August as part of the school district orientation of new teachers. The number of new teachers is, of course, a product of both growth within the district and replacement of retiring teachers. Last year found approximately 30 new teachers welcomed to the District.

Steve Hatcher Many progressive Chamber businesses, anxious to have new teachers as customers, contribute a minimal fee to include their business information in welcome packets assembled by the Chamber staff and distributed at the breakfast. In this fashion, we are able to welcome new residents, provide a marketing opportunity for members and contribute college funds for deserving Oswego students. The New Teacher Breakfast is a great program you may want to participate in when August rolls around this year.

Sponsorship Opportunities available – In 2011 we will be offering $50 sponsorships for each event (maximum of 4-5 per event). Each Sponsor will be allowed to put out their marketing material and give a 1 minute commercial. We will also be continuing the Basket raffles. Please call the Chamber office at 630-554-3505 to reserve your spot!

Basket Raffle donations needed – Every luncheon we raffle off baskets or items that have been donated by Chamber member businesses. The money that is raised from these raffles goes to our philanthropic project each year. Last year we raised over $600 just on these baskets that we were able to give to Mutual Ground. If you are interested in donating a Raffle basket or gift certificate, contact the Chamber office at 630-554-3505 or info@oswegochamber.org

Thank you Edward Immediate Care & Holiday Inn Express for being the May sponsors for the luncheon. We also need Basket Raffle donations. These are both great ways to promote your business.

Eblast ads have a new price! Want to stand out from the crowd? Exclusive email blast ads are available for $50. You have the option of having your email ad go out on Monday or Wednesday. Your ad will go to all Chamber of Commerce members, and only one ad will be distributed on Monday and one on Wednesday. Ads need to be in a gif or jpeg format and no larger than 250 KB and 720 x 800 pixels.

Get the word out! Advertising for the Oswego Chamber of Commerce Newsletter is $25 for a ¼ page ad (approximately 300 x 300 pixels) and $50 for a ½ page ad (600 x 300 pixels). Ads should be in gif or jpeg format. Deadline is the last week of every month.
